George Floyd’s family sues Kanye West for $250 million
The family of George Floyd, who died as a result of the police pressing on his neck with his knee in the USA, filed a lawsuit against rapper Kanye West, who claimed that Floyd died due to drugs, not police violence.
US rapper Kanye West claimed that Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose in a podcast program he attended. In Floyd’s autopsy report, it was previously determined that the cause of death was obstruction of breathing as a result of the police pressing on with his knee.
Following West’s allegations, Floyd’s family sued the controversial rapper for $250 million in damages.
George Floyd died in May 2020 after the police pressed his knee on his neck. Floyd’s death had repercussions in the USA and all over the world, and protests against police violence and racism began across the USA. Police officer Derek Chauvin, who pressed Floyd with his knee, was sentenced to prison for murder.
