With simple cake dough or ready-made puff pastry from the refrigerated section, this can be done in no time at all! All you need is a loaf pan, springform pan or a small sheet pan.

Caramel Pear Cake

ingredients

5 pears (approx. 1 kg)
2 lemons
200 g sugar beet syrup caramel
1 piece(s) (approx. 1 cm) ginger root
150g butter or margarine
1 packet of vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
125 grams of sugar
2 eggs (size M)
200 grams of flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1-2 tbsp ground pistachio nuts
fat and flour for the mold

preparation

1. Wash, peel, quarter and core the pears. Score quarters in a fan shape. Squeeze lemons. Put the lemon juice, 500 ml water and 100 g syrup in a wide saucepan, bring to the boil, add the pears and bring to the boil again. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Lift out with a ladle, drain well and leave to cool

2. For the dough, peel and finely grate the ginger. Beat the fat, vanilla sugar, salt and sugar with the whisk of the hand mixer until creamy. Stir in eggs one at a time. Mix the flour, baking powder and cinnamon and stir in in two batches. Stir in ginger. Pour the batter into a greased and floured springform pan (approx. 26 cm in diameter), smooth out

3. Spread the pears evenly over the dough with the cuts facing up, spread 50 g of syrup over the pears and bake in the preheated oven (electric stove: 175 °C/ fan: 150 °C/ gas: see manufacturer) for approx. 50 minutes to bake. Remove from the oven, place on a wire rack and let cool. Remove from the mold, brush the pears with 50 g of syrup. Sprinkle the edge with pistachios. Whipped cream tastes good with it

4. Waiting time about 2 1/2 hours
