Laundry detergent is also quite handy outside of the laundry room
Of course we use detergent to wash our laundry. It is therefore logical to keep the detergent where we use it most – namely near the washing machine. However, there’s no harm in keeping a bottle under the sink as well, because it turns out there are six situations where laundry detergent can come in very handy, even in the kitchen! Here are six reasons why you should keep laundry detergent in your kitchen cupboard.
1. One can use laundry detergent as hand soap
Did you run out of hand soap and forgot to buy new ones? Then detergent offers a solution: a mix of detergent and water is a good alternative to hand soap. Simply fill the empty hand soap bottle partly with detergent and partly with water and shake well. You already have new soap!
2. For an extra strong hand cleaner
Do you have stubborn dirt on your hands that takes a lot of effort to get off? Now most people are probably thinking of black oil after working on the car or bicycle or paint. Just use a teaspoon of detergent and a teaspoon of vegetable oil here and the dirt will disappear like snow in the sun.
3. As an all-purpose cleaner
Mix 2 tablespoons of detergent per liter of water and use this mixture to fight any grease and dirt in the kitchen. For example, you can put the mixture in a handy spray bottle and use the homemade all-purpose cleaner every day to clean all kinds of surfaces around the house. In addition, the cleaning agent also has a very pleasant scent, so your home will smell great after a major cleaning.
4. Swipe to the floor
Pour half a capful of laundry detergent into a bucket of warm water and use the solution to mop the floor. It might not be the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to mopping your floors, but we promise your floor will shine like never before! Plus, your home will smell great too!
5. To pre-treat stains
Oops, have you been so busy cooking that you splattered red sauce on your favorite white blouse? With a little laundry detergent in the kitchen, you can pre-treat this stain quickly and easily. Dab some of the liquid detergent directly onto the stain, being careful not to let the clothes soak up the stain completely. Then throw the good piece in the washing machine and it will look like nothing ever happened!
6. For a clogged drain
Detergent can unclog a clogged drain. It’s at least worth trying before calling an expensive plumber. Just pour half a cup of laundry detergent down the drain, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse with boiling water. The slightly less stubborn dirt should come loose so that the hot water clears the drain again.
